Prof. Andrew Potts founded Australian Marine and Offshore Group, now trading as AMOG, in 1992. He is an Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of AMOG Holdings Pty Ltd. Prof. Potts is extensively involved in the offshore oil and gas sector in projects relating to hydrodynamic loading and response of fixed and floating offshore structures and ships, submarine pipelines or highly flexible systems such as moorings or flexible risers. This work involves advanced numerical and finite element analyses, and ranges from development of design criteria and concept engineering, through to detailed design of various aspects of facilities, structures, operations and installations. Because of his specialised skill-set, Prof. Potts is often engaged to provide specialist advice in legal cases, project management, specification development, tender evaluation, contract negotiation and assessment of contract deliverables. In 2016, he was appointed as a Professor of Practice by Monash University, an honorary appointment in recognition of his contributions to the engineering profession and association with the university. Prof. Potts is an authority on steel wire ropes and fibre rope systems used in marine applications.
